Ingredients

  • ½ cup prepared mayonnaise optional
  • ½ cup sweet pickle relish optional
  • 4 hot dogs cooked
  • 4 soft swedish flatbreads (tunnbröd) or other soft flatbread, wrap or tortilla
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes warmed
  • crispy fried onions
  • ketchup
  • mustard preferably a Swedish brand or Dijon
  • 2 cups skagenröra optional

Instructions

  • Combine the sweet pickle relish and mayonnaise together in a small bowl (if using). Set aside.
  • Lay a piece of flatbread on a plate or clean work surface. Slather with one quarter of the warm mashed potatoes and sprinkle crispy fried onions over the top.
  • Place a hot dog on top of the mashed potato layer. Drizzle with ketchup and mustard.
  • Spoon one quarter of the skagenröra or the relish-mayo mixture next to the hot dog.
  • Top with a handful of greens and another sprinkle of crispy fried onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • I serve mine flat on the plate and don't try to roll it up until I'm ready to eat to prevent the tunnbröd from getting soggy and falling apart.
  • You might consider a knife and fork along side this one. It's messy (in a good way!)
  • When serving this dish to guests, it's easiest to give them a tutorial, lay out the ingredients and let them assemble their own.
