A classic Swedish street food hot dog wrap featuring mashed potatoes, creamy shrimp salad OR creamy pickle relish sauce. As unusual as it is delicious!
Combine the sweet pickle relish and mayonnaise together in a small bowl (if using). Set aside.
Lay a piece of flatbread on a plate or clean work surface. Slather with one quarter of the warm mashed potatoes and sprinkle crispy fried onions over the top.
Place a hot dog on top of the mashed potato layer. Drizzle with ketchup and mustard.
Spoon one quarter of the skagenröra or the relish-mayo mixture next to the hot dog.
Top with a handful of greens and another sprinkle of crispy fried onions. Serve immediately.
Notes
I serve mine flat on the plate and don't try to roll it up until I'm ready to eat to prevent the tunnbröd from getting soggy and falling apart.
You might consider a knife and fork along side this one. It's messy (in a good way!)
When serving this dish to guests, it's easiest to give them a tutorial, lay out the ingredients and let them assemble their own.
